By meticulously painting layers of epoxy resin with acrylics, Singapore-based artist Keng Lye has produced works of art that float somewhere between painting and sculpture. Each piece can consist of patiently executed layers which are necessary to create the sense of depth they have.

The blanket octopus does not mess around. If attacked by a Portuguese Man o’ War, the octopus is not only immune to any stings, but will actually rip off the Man o’ War’s tentacles and fling them around like whips to defend itself against the predator.
There is a huge amount of sexual dimorphism. The females grow up to 2 meters long, while the males typically are smaller than a walnut shell. For reproduction, the male fills a special tentacle with sperm and deposits it into the female. It breaks off after completion, and he dies.
